Our mission
Informed citizens make democracy work. The site covers both a quick first-time lookup and detailed research across every congressional district. Our goal is to make civic information accessible, clear, and easy to use, so that knowing who represents you in Congress is never more than a ZIP code away.
What we provide
The site covers all 435 congressional districts with a page for each, including the current representative and their party, committee assignments, and contact details; declared candidates for the 2026 election from FEC filings; district population and partisan lean; and state pages showing the full delegation and both U.S. senators. There are also profiles for all 100 senators, the 6 non-voting delegates, and plain guides to how districts, Congress and elections work.
Who publishes this site
What District Am I In? is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with any government body, political party, campaign, or advocacy group, and no outside organization reviews or approves what appears here. The site is maintained by a small editorial team that keeps the data current, writes the guides, and answers every message sent through the contact page.
How the data is kept current
Member records are checked against three sources: the Clerk of the House member list, the Senate.gov member list, and the congress-legislators dataset. Where those disagree, the chamber’s own list is treated as authoritative. The most recent full audit ran on September 3, 2026 and compared all 435 district pages, all 100 senator pages and all 50 state pages against those sources.
The other datasets refresh on their own schedules. District boundaries come from U.S. Census Bureau TIGERweb files for the 119th Congress. ZIP code assignments come from the Census Bureau Block Equivalency File dated July 30, 2024. Address lookups run against the official Census geocoder at the moment you search. Candidate lists refresh automatically from Federal Election Commission filings. Partisan lean is the 2024 presidential margin in each district, from The Downballot. Population figures come from the 2020 Census. Every district page, state page and senator page carries the date its data was last checked.
Corrections
If something on the site is wrong, email contact@whatdistrictamiin.com with the page and the specific detail. Most messages get a reply within 48 hours. Corrections are verified against the primary source before anything changes, and the page footer date updates when the check is done. Our editorial standards explain the process in full.
Nonpartisan commitment
This site does not endorse, support, or oppose any party, candidate, or cause. Party affiliation is reported because it is a fact about the officeholder. Election results and presidential margins are reported as figures, without commentary on what they ought to mean. Our role is to inform, not to influence.
How this site is funded
The site is free to use and carries advertising. It may also earn a commission when a reader follows certain links to other sites, which is set out in the affiliate disclosure. That revenue covers hosting, data services and the time spent maintaining the site. It has no bearing on which members, districts or candidates appear here, or on how they are described. Nobody can pay to change or remove a fact on this site.
